We’re seeking a Product Development Specialist to assist with developing new private label products. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about bringing a high quality consumer-ready product to market.  A combination of creativity and a drive to seek resolutions to various obstacles when developing a new product will be key to the success of this position.  Strong, proactive communication skills paired with the ability to work independently as well as coordinate with internal stakeholders are essential. 


The ideal candidate will quickly step up to meet the needs of a rapidly growing private label collection, and continuously seek opportunities to elevate the offerings within the brand.  New challenges frequently emerge and it is essential that the Specialist is able to pivot and push in order to meet these demands. The position requires taking the necessary time to research products in the industry, determine manufacturing capabilities as well as seek new products & logo applications.  Once the product attributes have been established, the Product Development Specialist must execute on the design and development.  





  • Research product materials, manufacturing processes, logo applications, and packaging options per product category
  • Design new products and make design modifications to existing products
  • Develop new private label tactical products - clothing, footwear, equipment
  • Work directly with factories to develop prototypes that lead to consumer-ready products
  • Collaborate with the sourcing specialist to develop the products using reliable manufacturers while targeting cost objectives
  • Serve as a point of contact for design, sourcing and manufacturing
  • Communicate new product ideas with sourcing specialist and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate samples and maintain an organized supply for reference 
  • Cultivate and maintain successful partner relationships. Make the determination when unsuccessful factory performance needs to be reevaluated
  • Seek input from the design and marketing teams to keep on-brand regarding potential products, logo applications, and packaging
  • Create custom packaging, insert card, and instruction sheets with the design team
  • Ensure expediency of all development to ensure timely delivery for product launch 
  • Enhance process improvements to ensure optimal quality and productivity
  • Keep thorough records of work progress within Trello, Slack, Google Drive and relevant documents





  • 2+ years experience in product development and/or technical design
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively instruct overseas factories on product designs
  • Enjoys not only the product development and design but also the research and organizational aspects required to excel
  • Strong product management and time management skills
  • Able to analyze sales data in order to identify trends where new products may provide a high return on investment
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and/or other technical product design software
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Google Apps
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask in a deadline-driven atmosphere
  • Desire to work in a fast-moving environment with moving parts and unforeseen requests
